About Us

The Rochambeau Rebels are registered as a non-profit organization per the State of Connecticut. We are currently pending approval of 501c3 status with the IRS and expect to be classified as such before the commencement of the 2025 kickoff.

Why the Rochambeau Rebels?

When we decided to create this new organization, we wanted to recognize not just the cheerleaders in Southbury but the greater area as well. One of the amazing connections between our local towns is the Washington Rochambeau Trail. The Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route is a National Historic Trail that commemorates the journey made by the Continental Army under the command of George Washington and allied French troops under the command of Jean-Baptiste de Rochambeau. In 1781, at the height of the American Revolution, General Rochambeau crossed from Newtown into Southbury and even encamped with his troops right in Middlebury. We wanted to pay tribute to this incredible history that ties our greater community together and honor the determined spirit of those who paved the way for future generations. Did you know that the bridge we cross on I-84 every day is called the Rochambeau bridge? Washington himself ordered the construction of a bridge sturdy enough to transport troops and supplies across the Housatonic. We are inspired to build our own bridges (and pyramids) among youth cheerleaders from any town and can't wait to get started!

Meet the Board

Jamie Potter

President

“My view has always been that sports should add value to our kids’ childhood and never take more than they give. I am excited to be a part of a program that is inclusive, accessible and allows time for youth to simultaneously explore other passions. I can’t wait to see the positive impact this program will have on families and youth in our area.”

Meg Gavin

Vice President & Fiduciary

“My biggest goal for cheer athletes is a positive experience. I strive to create an environment to have fun, enjoy the season, make memories, learn skills, and be part of a team. I look forward to working with a board that has been setup to put cheerleading and the athletes in the forefront of the program.”

Holly Sullivan

“I am incredibly excited to see a local program designed just for competitive cheerleaders and their families. I have found a passion in watching cheerleaders grow in so many ways through this sport. The benefits to the kids last a lifetime and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something this community needs.”

Amy Pazmino

Competition Manager

“My passion for the sport of cheerleading is driven by the opportunity to be a part of the growth and experience for each cheerleader. My goal is to make positive memories that will last a lifetime while each athlete acquires a personal love for the sport working as a team.”

Shay Cieply

Uniform & Safety Manager

“Cheerleading has been a passion of mine since childhood, starting with Pop Warner at the age of 5 and continuing throughout high school. The contagious energy, inspiring work ethic, and unwavering sisterhood have always been at the heart of why I love cheerleading—it’s more than just a sport; it’s a community. Now as a Coach, I’m beyond proud to watch my daughter and her cheer team develop that same passion and self-confidence as their love for the sport continues to grow.”

Samantha Baker

Events & Fundraising

“I want to inspire the cheerleaders in our community to dream big, work hard, and believe in themselves. My goal is to create a positive, fun and supportive environment where they can develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the thrill of teamwork and competition. By mentoring and enouraging the next generation, I hope to help them grow not only as athletes but as strong, resilient individuals who can achieve anything they set their minds to and for it to resonate throughout our community for years to come."

Michelle Young
