We are the Rochambeau Rebels!

At the Rochambeau Rebels, we are dedicated to providing a quality competitive cheerleading program to area youth which is affordable and accessible to all. Our program provides a balanced and sustainable approach to youth cheerleading recognizing the needs of the athletes and their families. We are committed to excellence, creativity and integrity that goes beyond the cheer mat.

Our Commitment

We understand that cheerleading is an incredible sport but often puts tremendous pressure on athletes and families. We firmly believe that cheerleading has to give back more than it takes. Our philosophy is not that cheerleading is life. We believe that cheerleading is a rewarding part of a balanced life.

We are committed to a sustainable, local program which values your family's time and your athlete's other obligations such as school work, other extracurricular activities and faith-based programs. Therefore, we will provide for a long season which runs from August through March but offers a light weekly schedule that allows for consistency and planning.

Rochambeau Rebels makes the following committments to its athletes and families:

  • Affordable enrollment fees
  • Consistent practice locations and times
  • Only two practices per week
  • No practices on weekends
  • No mandatory parent volunteer hours

Do the Rebels cheer for other sports?

The Rochambeau Rebels will not do regular sideline cheering for any other sport. Competitive cheer skillbuilding is our only focus.

Does my child need to have prior cheerleading experience?

All cheerleaders and aspiring cheerleaders are welcome! No prior cheerleading or tumbling experience is necessary. All skill levels will be choreographed appropriately and we will work on growing skills along the way. We can't wait to grow together!

What are your expectations of families?

Families are asked to enroll athletes through Southbury Parks and Rec. They will further need to provide all necessary paperwork as required for competitions.

We understand that families have many other time committments. You will not be required to volunteer your time in any capacity. However, we do greatly appreciate those who are available to help with fundraising and keep our programming affordably priced.

Families will be required to ensure their athlete is present for all competitions. Cheerleading is a choreographed sport and every participant must be in their spot to be successful.

Are the Rebels affiliated with any other organization?

Yes! We are pleased to work with Southbury Parks and Rec to provide a quality program for cheerleaders and their families.

We are also pending recognition with YCADA (Youth Cheer and Dance Alliance) which is a national non-profit organization that provides universal governance of Youth Cheer and Dance skill levels, scoring and educational guidelines.

Where will competitions be?

Competitions for the 2025-2026 season have not been determined. Competitions will be within feasible driving distance.

Why have I never heard of the Rebels before?

We are new! 2025-2026 will be our first competition season. We cannot wait to meet you!

Will the Rebels provide experienced coaches?

Yes! In fact, the Rochambeau Rebels will be providing National Championship winning coaches with decades of combined cheerleading and choreography experience.

Will an athlete's years in cheer be acknowledged?

Yes! We realize that the Rochambeau Rebels are a new program but we wholeheartedly recognize that some athletes will be joining us after spending time in past programs. Cheerleaders will receive year end trophies and jackets based on total years of cheering. Parents can just show past enrollments for the cheerleader and the appropriate size trophy/ jacket for the total years of participation in the sport will be awarded.

Who can enroll?

Enrollment is open to all kids ages 5 and up who are not yet in high school by August of 2025.

Do I need to be a Southbury resident?

We are very excited to welcome cheerleaders from any town!

Why is there a Southbury resident rate?

We are very excited to be partnering with Southbury Parks and Rec. Parks and Rec is providing critical support to our program including practice space facilities (along with necessary amenities such as heat, electricity, restrooms, etc) as well as the help of their staff. Residents of Southbury are already supporting the cost of these benefits through their property taxes. So, Southbury residents will have a discounted enrollment cost as they are already contributing to these expenses.

“The coaches at Rochambeau Rebels truly care about their cheerleaders and go above and beyond to help them.”
